An introduction to silence retreat

Using the gifts of silence and solitude,

along with sessions of art, talks,

holy laziness and group work,

this retreat offers a gentle introduction to silence.

All sessions are invitational and if Creator Spirit moves you in a different direction you are encouraged to enter that flow.

Retreat facilitators:

The retreat is led by Diana Eagles and Desiree Snyman. Diana is trained spiritual director and facilitator for meditation groups. Desiree has been leading retreats for the last twenty years and has read widely in the field of classical and contemporary spirituality.

Shape of the retreat

There are three addresses (Friday evening, Saturday morning and Saturday afternoon).  You will have plenty of time to reflect on these in prayer, silence, walking, writing, drawing etc.

Each day is encircled by prayer.  On Friday night we end with Compline.
On Saturday we begin with Morning Prayer and end with a Taizé style healing service.  On Sunday we begin with Morning Prayer and end with Eucharist.

The rest of the day is for

·         Prayer

·         Resting

·         Walking – there is a lovely garden at the retreat house with a labyrinth, and the beach is just across the road

·         Creating – some drawing/writing materials will be provided and there are boundless items in nature to be discovered

·         and being with God

When:

29th March 2019 Friday 4pm to 31st March 2019 Sunday 2pm. Catering includes Friday dinner to Sunday lunch.

 Where:

Six-Day Silent Retreat for Advent

Hearts open to love

Mercy Place, 371 Simpson Rd, Bardon, Brisbane

Leaning into silence, we will open ourselves to contemplation and to our deepest longing to become so one with our indwelling God that we say: "I live no longer, but He lives in me." In the beautiful setting of Mercy Place, drawing on the rich wisdom of mystics and poets, we will cultivate rhythms of slow attentiveness, preparing the womb of our hearts to receive the

One child. The retreat will be directed and will offer morning and evening contemplative communal prayer, Eucharist and opportunity for spiritual direction for all drawn to it.

Guided and Directed by Catherine Hefferan rsm and Robyn Fitzgerald

Annual General Meeting For St Peter and St Paul’s

Annual General Meeting For St Peter and St Paul’s

1. In a church, an AGM is about the body of Christ (the congregation)
discerning the Spirit. In other words, as a community we are answering the question: “what are our deepest and most authentic desires for
ourselves and for God’s world?” By tuning into our deepest longings, we discover God’s will for our lives, our church and our community; for our deepest longings coincide with God’s.

2. An AGM is also about discerning the gift-based ministry of all
believers. What does this mean? Our firm conviction is that by virtue of our baptism, every person is a minister and has been given a gift by the Spirit for building up the community in unity and love.  At the AGM we celebrate our status as ministers, we offer gratitude for the gifts that the Spirit gives, and we discern who has been called to practice their
discipleship by being leaders, or teachers, or evangelists etc.
