A  Minister at Alstonville Anglican Church

(Assistant Priest or Stipendiary Lay Minister)

The goal of Alstonville Anglicans is Sharing the Good Life.

We Share the Good Life by nourishing people within diverse, vibrant and flourishing worship communities:

  • Sunday 8am - Innovative tradition

  • Sunday 4pm - Fresh Expressions worship for Families and Faith seekers (using Godly Play as a key component)

  • Sunday 6pm - An emerging community with dynamic teaching, multisensory worship with a difference and safe community

  • Thursday 6pm - Contemplative church

Our vision for church growth is to develop each of these worship communities such that they flourish in numerical growth and discipleship.

Goal of Position

The main goals for our assistant priest/stipendiary lay minister are

  • to further develop ministry to one of these worshipping communities. Ideally, we are looking for someone to develop the Sunday@6/Sundays@8 service.

  • to be the champion and pastor for a worshipping community by effectively engaging the community outside the church.


  • liaising with/discipling/supporting leaders;

  • promoting/marketing/advertising ministry through an effective digital and online ministry;

  • developing and implementing programs as required and under direction from parish priest

  • maintaining a well-planned, carefully balanced program throughout the year coordinated with the church calendar of events

  • grow the ministry of the  Sunday@6/Sundays@8 service by networking with relevant organisations in the community;

  • develop effective relationships with  Sunday@6/Sundays@8 service people;

  • ensure ongoing discipleship of  Sunday@6/Sundays@8 service people;

  • advocate for and champion the  Sunday@6/Sundays@8 service.

Selection criteria

  • Some experience of ministry

  • Effective communication skills

  • Proven ability in networking and relationship building

  • Evidence of theological training, plus WWC, Faithfulness in Service and Police Checks

  • Demonstrated computer skills including website management (we use Squarespace), Microsoft/Mac, and social media competency.

 Hours of appointment

  • 0.5fte - 24 hours per week (spread over 3-4 days)
